Well here's my post for the May assignment. My son was playing with his Wii so I grabbed the camera and started shooting. I wanted to experiment with dragging the shutter with the direct light. I set my 580EX II on a light stand camera left, manual setting @ 1/128 power and zoomed to 105mm, it was tripped with PocketWizards. Camera was .5 sec f/5, ISO at 200 with a 10-17mm. The background light is a mix of a small table lamp and window light. Let me know what you think....
Thanks,
Fred
this is sweet on so many levels. First the color compliments, black on the yellow is very striking. the movement and the moment also great, his focused intense wii face, very cool. Last the lighting, great placement
ReplyDeleteboth eyes lit but there is a wonderful graphic that defines his face.
well done Fred way to go!
Fred, I loved the shot of your son. The blur and little catchlights add a lot. What concentration it evokes.
ReplyDeleteYour posting encouraged me to go find a subject and post it. In my case birds.
This is a wonderful way to experiment with straight flash. Instead of stopping the action in mid-motion, as one expects with flash, you caught motion and energy.
ReplyDeleteNow you've made me want to try dragging the shutter with my granddaughter, who, like your son, can be a perpetual motion machine.
Well done.
I like the concentration in the face and movement in the hands. I like the way the flash provides enough pop of light to the face to seperate your son from warmer tones of the background.
