Motion

so here's the latest.  slow shutter, tripod and table top technique to fast shutter hand held.
That's the how, the why I'm finding more and more is the question I'm asking myself theses days.
What do I really want to say and what is trying to happen in the image.  In this case our friend Susie is a movement artist and soon to be dance student.   She's leaving us for school
and I wanted to comment on the potential of her talent before being refined.  That was the why
and it was the difference in achieving something technically and actually discovering something personally.

  1. I like what you did. Each image conveyed a sense of motion even if only by gesture. The lighting worked for me.

  2. Really nice Chris - I like the subtle blur of the hands. A movement artist, that's what I thought I was after that fateful dinner in Santa Fe!
Nice job. I hope to do something this month. Works been really busy, a bunch of cool assignments with the potentially biggest one to come next week... I plan to update my blog tonight with pics and tales of adventure. Keep up the great work.

  3. Chris, these are beautiful. I love what you said about the "why" question as opposed to the "how;" I've been thinking along the same lines. What is the story behind my images? What am I trying to say?

  4. I love this series for conveying movement. The last one is my favorite. It stands alone as a lovely evocative photograph but coming after the first three makes it even more meaningful.
